Our history
1990
In the early 1990s, the idea of going into business for myself was born. After a thorough market analysis and a serious consideration of how to develop an entrepreneurial concept with little capital and a lot of willpower, which will enable rapid growth and secure business, GEAPRODUKT Wholesale and Retail Trading Company d.o.o. was born .
The company, which started with a business centre in Rudnik, focuses on retail – discount sales, wholesale and buying of home-grown produce, and importing fruit and vegetables from different parts of the world.

1991
Opening of the first independent discount store in Ljubljana – Šiška and development of wholesale: Emona, Mercator, Perutnina, Jestvina Koper.
1992
Acquisition and opening of a second discount store in Maribor, PC Pobrežje, and start of cooperation with the SPAR SLO chain. Hungarian Market Tunnel.
1993
Cooperation with the Port of Koper begins, with the construction of a new cold storage and ripening plant for bananas. Opening of the third PC Ruda Izola discounter.
1995
Opening of PC Levec, PC Trbovlje.
1999
Opening of the PC Celje discounter.
2006
Specialisation and segmentation of the marketing approach to retail chains, HORECA, public procurers, wholesalers, small retailers association, other resale buyers.
2010
Intergenerational transfer of business to the younger generation in a family business.
2011
We have been awarded the ECO certificate
An “eco” certificate, or “bio” certificate, is proof that a product is ecologically sound.
2019
Relocation to a new site (Dolenjska cesta 242) and the installation of a state-of-the-art rack storage and cold storage facility that ensures all the necessary temperature regimes, with an adequate number of cold rooms that also ensure relative humidity. Setting up state-of-the-art cold storage and ripening facilities for bananas.
We have been awarded the Selected Quality Certificate
IK certification entitles manufacturers to market products with the relevant trademark in accordance with the integrated graphic design and the instructions for use.
2020
We have been awarded Global G.A.P. certification – Global G.A.P. is the internationally recognised standard for agricultural production. Our products are the result of years of intensive research and collaboration with industry experts, manufacturers and retailers around the world.
2021
We have been awarded the IFS Food certification
IFS FOOD is one of the standards recognised by the GFSI – Global Food Safety Initiative, and is one of the most globally recognised certifications. It combines the requirements of the Codex Alimentarius HACCP system, good produce, business and hygiene practices, traceability, labelling and food safety.
2022
ISO 9001:2015 certification
The requirements of the standard focus primarily on the effectiveness and efficiency of the quality management system in meeting customer requirements, without neglecting the stakeholders who can influence the management system.
GRASP certification
GRASP is an add-on/upgrade to the Global G.A.P. certificate. It covers the main themes of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the core labour conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
We have been certified as a DOD (Socially Responsible Employer)
The Socially Responsible Employer certificate is based on the guidelines of the international standard for social responsibility ISO 26000, which aims to improve socially responsible management in organisations and companies in Slovenia in relation to employees.
2023
Opening of a new business centre in Koper
In March, we opened our new Koper Business Centre, with state-of-the-art rack storage and close access to the Port of Koper.
2024
The company obtains ISO 14001 quality certification
Environmental stewardship is in the company’s DNA. This year, we have successfully upgraded our environmental management policy – we have obtained ISO 14001 quality certification, which is an environmental management system. With ISO 14001, we have identified the challenges our activities pose to the environment and the measures we can take to effectively control and reduce potential negative impacts on the environment.
2025
Growing our own vegetables
We have started growing our own fresh vegetables in Dekani! Our vegetables grow under the sun of Slovenian Istria, cultivated with respect for nature and local traditions. Every vegtable that ripens is a step towards better quality and shorter routes, thus taking care of the environment and the community.
